ANNIE TO OPEN IN PLEASANT VALLEY PARK AMPHITHEATER

The cast includes Karen Blevins, Ava Chianelli, Caitlyn Costello, Claire Dempsey, Bethany Duffy, Ginelle Fernandes, Jessica Junqua, Dylan Klug, Layla Marin, Maurice Marvi, Louis Mastro, Kay Mastropaolo, Nancy Jean MCBride, Germaine McGrath, Josie Monroe, Kathy Monroe, Bridget Nassan, Bill Osman, Jojo Parks, Lily Perrotti, Colleen Renee, Alex Ridder, Jaidyn Riley, David Rittenhouse, Amy Ruggiero, Elizabeth Rzasa, Allison Schaechter, Julia Schmidt, Gloria Schnure, Pichard Siegle, Kara Vandal, Holly Vandal, William Ward,  Caroline Zugale, Will Carey, Bob Vaias, Eliana Krever, Maria Ruppert, Carl Bird, Caoline McKenna, Barbara Stewart.

MACY (Sandy) was adopted from Rocky Spot Rescue of Oklahoma City, OK by guardian and trainer Bill Berloni at the age of 18 months. He had seen her on Petfinder.com and traveled all the way to Oklahoma to adopt her.  She had been a stray when she was picked up by the local animal control. Miraculously, Macy avoided euthanasia for months but was overlooked for adoption. Fortunately, she was picked to enter the Prison Dog Training program at the Davis Correctional Center in Holdenville, OK, by the new Leash on Life Pen Pal program. She spent 10 weeks living with the inmates and received all her basic training.

Unfortunately, even though she was a model student, she was the only one from the program that was not adopted. Rocky Spot Rescue, a no-kill shelter, took her, which is where Bill Berloni found her. Her journey is truly inspiring. Since her first production of ANNIE, she has starred in dozens of productions nationwide.

There’s always time to remember this romantic fable about a boy, a girl, their two fathers and a love that grows with each season.

The Fantasticks, with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones, is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl and their two fathers who try to keep them apart. The narrator, El Gallo, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo’s words that “without a hurt, the heart is hollow.”

Trilogy Repertory to Hold Fundraiser for New Theater @ Fellowship Village Cultural Arts Center

The Party With a Purpose

WHEN: Friday, October 19
WHERE:
Primavera Regency on Valley Road in Stirling
TICKETS: $200-a-plate
Those interested in attending The Party With a Purpose can find RSVP information by clicking here.
Those who can’t attend the party can still help with a donation to Trilogy, click here to learn more about how to help.

Living as we do in the glow of Broadway, it’s easy to take great theater for granted. But it takes hard work and commitment. In our corner of New Jersey, a dedicated group has been bringing stories to life on stage for nearly 40 years. And now, as it is preparing to move into a wonderful new home, Trilogy Repertory is asking the community to be its guest.

Trilogy has agreed to be theater company in residence at the new Cultural Arts Center at Fellowship Senior Living in Basking Ridge beginning in 2019. The center, now in the final stages of construction, will include a state-of-the-art theater with seating for 200. Local audiences, including Fellowship residents, will be the prime beneficiaries.

“We’ve been keeping the momentum going with summertime Plays In The Park at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge for years, and we plan to continue,” said Henri Barre, Trilogy’s development director. “But now, adding this theater through the partnership with Fellowship will allow us to mount top-notch productions at other times of year as well. We’re excited to do more for quality theater in the Somerset Hills.”

Fundraising for the new center is in full swing. That effort is crucial for Trilogy and its audience, because Trilogy’s amount of access to the Cultural Arts Center will depend on how much it can contribute to the construction costs over the next three years.

Trilogy is grabbing the opportunity with both hands. And who better than a theater company to make a bold, dramatic stroke?

At The Party With a Purpose, a gala evening of dining and entertainment, the $200-a-plate dinner will help Trilogy take significant steps forward in its funding commitment to Fellowship Senior Living. A silent auction full of enticing prizes will help as well. Items to be offered include Broadway show tickets and experiences (including meet-and-greets with cast members), travel packages to Key West and other destinations, New York Yankees tickets with private stadium tours, and guitars autographed by music stars such as Katy Perry and Maroon 5.

Twelfth Night, an enjoyable jumble of mistaken identity, romantic triangles, and colorful characters, was originally written for Queen Elizabeth’s celebration of Epiphany, the twelfth night after Christmas, and was originally entitled What You Will. The play has been produced on Broadway numerous times, most recently during the 2013-2014 season, a production that received six Tony nominations and two awards.  The play has also been a popular vehicle for the movies and television five times in the past thirty years with many familiar faces from both media reprising the roles.

Juliette Hommes of Branchburg and Michael Jay of Hackettstown play the identical twins, Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck.  After Viola disguises herself as a man, The Countess Olivia, played by Emily Miller of Bloomingdale, and a confused Duke Orsino, portrayed by Peter Curley of Maplewood both fall in love with her.  Olivia’s madcap household is comprised of Tim Murphy (Denville) as her hard-drinking uncle, Sir Toby Belch, Kelly Maizenaski (Branchburg) as the wise and witty servant, Maria, and the self-important Steward, Malvolio, is played by Chris Gibbs (Fanwood).  Adam Barr  (Basking Ridge) is the clown Feste, who joins Alicia Hayes (Belleville) as servant Fabian and Aaron Kellner (West Orange) as wealthy, but not too bright, houseguest Sir Andrew Aguecheek as they all torment the overblown Malvolio.  When twin brother Sebastian appears on the scene, confusion reigns.  Other characters include servants Curio and Valentine played by Elizabeth Dreitlein (New Providence) and Elizabeth Sanchez-Quinones (Montclair).   Kevin Vislocky (Hamburg) as Sebastian’s friend Antonio and Hank Barre (Basking Ridge) as the Captain round out this talented cast.  Director Paul Bettys of Parsippany keeps the action moving and the laughs coming in this favorite Shakespeare comedy.

The partnership of Trilogy Repertory and Bernards Township has produced over three decades of family entertainment and achieved several awards for both groups for excellence in theater programming.  Most prominent are the awards from ACT (Achievement in Community Theater) and the prestigious “Excellence in Cultural Arts Programming.”  “Twelfth Night” is made possible, in part, by support from New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

FAMILY FUN-FILLED PRINTMAKING FESTIVAL FEATURES BRANCHBURG EATERIES

 Printmaking Festival

Inks you can eat, a chance to make art from marshmallows, good food and a hands-on celebration of printmaking are among the fun activities to be offered at the Printmaking Center of New Jersey’s first-ever printmaking and food festival, set for Saturday, Aug. 6, from 12-4 pm.

A variety of foods will be provided by Branchburg-based vendors at PCNJ’s inaugural fundraising festival, on the PCNJ grounds at 440 River Road.  There will be a wide variety of art stations, many of which will be using food, with opportunities for both children and adults to create their own works of art.

This event represents a pivotal decision made by Printmaking Center of NJ to become more involved in the local community while it continues to raise awareness of the fine art of printmaking in diverse ways.

“We are having such fun developing edible inks and creative ways to make a print using fun foods like marshmallows and hot dogs,” commented Sandra Fernandez, Director of PCNJ.

Adrian Chin, local printmaker, will share his secret of printing on cotton candy - it’s not all gooey and sticky!

Other local printmakers, Rachel Heberling, Michelle Lee, Judy Nylen and Len Lesko will work along with festival-goers who are curious to try their hand at printmaking using the sophisticated printing presses in the PCNJ studios.  Branchburg residents will finally know what goes on inside that gray building on River Road between the rickety bridge and the train station.

Did I Print That?” a pop-up art exhibit of print works on paper from area campers and students, will be on display in the PCNJ galleries. Tours of the PCNJ studios will be given throughout the day by studio docents.

The rain date for the festival is Sunday, Aug. 7.

About Printmaking Center of New Jersey (PCNJ):
PCNJ is a 43-year-old non-profit, internationally recognized art organization that provides equipment, supplies, education and professional technical assistance necessary for all printmaking techniques.  It also houses a growing collection of fine art prints and two galleries, and serves as home base for traveling art programs serving veterans and children throughout New Jersey.
