Shakespeare in the Park Bergen County EXPANDS with Library Performances!


Black Box Performing Arts Center, in partnership with Bergen County, is pleased to announce free outdoor professional performances of Shakespeare’s Macbeth and The Taming of the Shrew this summer, as a special addition to Shakespeare in the Park Bergen County!

This is the fourth year of free summer Shakespeare in Bergen County, brought to you by Black Box PAC: the intimate 501c3 non profit theater/performing arts school combo located on Palisade Avenue in downtown Englewood. In previous years, the company toured their vibrant productions to libraries and parks throughout Bergen County. 

This year, the main productions of Hamlet and As You Like It are in residence at the Overpeck County Park Amphitheater. 

The series is instead expanding by offering two additional works by Shakespeare: Macbeth and The Taming of the Shrew, coming to select libraries!

Black Box PAC has performed summer Shakespeare at the Englewood Public Library all four years, in addition to virtual Shakespeare readings in 2020 and recent performances of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest

MACBETH & THE TAMING OF THE SHREW

WHEN: Wednesdays at 8pm: Macbeth on July 28, August 4, and August 11, with The Taming of the Shrew closing out the summer on August 18, August 25, and September 1.

ADMISSION: free
Audience members should bring their own chair or blanket.

MACBETH

WHEN: Tuesday, August 24 , 7 PM, with the Borough’s Court Chambers upstairs as a back-up indoor location in case of inclement weather.

Announcing Show Dates for Shakespeare in the Park Bergen County


Black Box Performing Arts Center, in partnership with Bergen County, is pleased to announce free outdoor professional performances of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and As You Like It this summer, exclusively at the Overpeck Park Amphitheater!

This will be the fourth year of free summer Shakespeare in Bergen County, brought to you by Black Box PAC, the intimate 501c3 non profit theater/performing arts school combo located on Palisade Avenue in downtown Englewood. Performances of Hamlet and As You Like It are free to attend, but audiences should bring their own chairs or blankets.

Black Box PAC adds a twist to their takes on Shakespeare, making the classic stories more accessible:

HAMLET

Surf's up in the classic revenge tragedy! The sun might be out, the waves might be strong, but there is a dark cloud surrounding the surfer prince as he grapples with the recent death of his father. Can he stay balanced on his board and avenge the Surf King’s murder?

AS YOU LIKE IT

How do YOU like it? Uptight suburbia got you down? Escape the court and find freedom in the Forest of Arden! Shakespeare’s famous heroine finds liberty in banishment and Hippies in the woods in this fun romantic comedy with a psychedelic twist.

All the world’s a stage… but the best stage of all is Bergen County’s Overpeck Park Amphitheater, located at 100 Challenger Road in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey!

Lottery Opens Tomorrow! Free Shakespeare in Central Park

THE LOTTERY FOR FREE SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK OPENS TOMORROW! PERFORMANCES BEGIN JULY 6.

 

POWERED BY GOLDSTAR


Free tickets will be distributed via digital lottery & distribution on the Goldstar app or through their desktop website each Tuesday and Friday, one week prior to the next week’s scheduled performances. 

Goldstar will begin accepting lottery entries and opening the ADA Accessible Digital Distribution list on Tuesday, June 29 for Tuesday, July 6 and Wednesday, July 7 performances, and then again on Friday, July 2 for performances July 8 through July 10, and continue each Tuesday and Friday thereafterFor a schedule of entry dates for performances, view the Entry Calendar.

How to Enter The Lottery:

  1. Download the Goldstar app (AppleAndroid) or visit their website anytime to receive reminders prior to the lottery dates, and be prepared in advance to enter.

 

  1. On the day of each lottery, enter the lottery on the Goldstar app or website, between 12:00AM and 12:00PM (Noon) ET. Join the ADA Accessible Digital Distribution beginning at 12:00PM (Noon) ET while seats are available.

 

  1. Enter the General Lottery or join the ADA Accessible Distribution for up to two (2) free tickets and choose any single performance or choose multiple performances based on the available performance dates for that day’s lottery or distribution.
  2. There will be both Full Capacity and Physically Distanced seating sections available. Full capacity seating is recommended for those who are vaccinated and Physically Distanced seating is recommended for those that are not vaccinated.
  3. The lottery will begin to pull winners at 12:00 PM (Noon) ET. Lottery winners and those that did not win, will begin to be notified by email shortly after 12:00PM ET. The Public will be in touch by email or phone to assist those who joined the ADA Accessible Distribution with finding seats to accommodate their request based on their entry time into the distribution.
  4. Plan to pick up your tickets in person at the Delacorte Box Office on the day you are scheduled to attend the performance between 4PM and 7:30PM with a Government-issued ID. Tickets that are not claimed by 7:30PM will be released.

Casting Announced for Shakespeare in the Park Bergen County 2021


Black Box Performing Arts Center, in partnership with Bergen County, is pleased to announce free outdoor professional performances of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and As You Like It this summer, exclusively at the Overpeck Park Amphitheater!

This will be the fourth year of free summer Shakespeare in Bergen County, brought to you by Black Box PAC, the intimate 501c3 non-profit theater/performing arts school combo located on Palisade Avenue in downtown Englewood. 

Performances of Hamlet and As You Like It are free to attend, but audiences should bring their own chairs or blankets.

As in previous years, both shows will be presented in repertory. The electrifying actors, a stellar group from New York City and New Jersey, will appear in both shows. The ensemble includes Bergen County’s Shakespeare in the Park veterans Michael Gardiner, Cassandra Guglielmo, Kentrell Loftin, Danielle MacMath, and Ilana Schimmel. They are joined by newcomers Neev Bar-David, Temima Hyman, Mike Marcou, Anne Elizabeth Miele, Jeremy Niles, Maggie Danielli Pecorino, Conrad Rippy, and Kevin Thiel.
