JULY CONCERTS ON THE BEACH AND BELL WORKS

 




Adam Pascal Live!

Join Broadway’s original Roger in the musical Rent, Adam Pascal, on the Asbury Park Boardwalk on Wednesday, July 28, for live concerts at 5:30 pm and 8 pm. The Arthur Pryor Bandshell, on 5th Avenue above the Iron Whale Restaurant, overlooks the beach and is the perfect setting for midweek cocktails and great music.

Tony-nominated actor Adam Pascal began his Broadway career in Rent and later created the role of Radames in Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida and later starred in Cabaret, Memphis and, most recently, Something Rotten! where he played the Bard himself!

The Doo Wop Project—Four Shows at Bell Works

Back by popular demand, the Doo Wop Project has been an annual favorite at the Axelrod PAC. On the weekend of August 7 and 8, we are pleased to bring together the stars of Jersey Boys and Motown the Musical, five guys backed by a five-piece rock band, to sing exciting, doo-wopified versions of classics (The Temptations, The Four Seasons, Smokey Robinson and more!) and pop and rock songs. The concerts take place on the outside deck at Bell Works on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8, at 4 pm and 7 pm. Tickets on sale for all concerts now!

The Doo Wop Project to Perform at Kean University

The group traces the evolution of doo wop – five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner – to some of today’s greatest music. The show takes audiences on a journey from the songs of the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, the Temptations and the Four Seasons. But then it goes a step further.

Did you ever wonder what Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5 and Amy Winehouse would sound like if they had lived in the doo wop era? You’ll hear The Doo Wop Project reimagine some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history in an authentic doo wop sound.

The group’s members all have Broadway credentials. Dominic Nolfi starred in Jersey Boys, Motown: The Musical and A Bronx Tale; Charl Brown originated the role of Smokey Robinson in Motown: The Musical and was nominated for a Tony Award. Dominic Scaglione Jr. is best known for portraying Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys and was personally asked by Valli to sing at his New Jersey Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Russell Fischer, who has a tenor voice with a falsetto range, played both Joe Pesci and Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys. Dwayne Cooper starred in Motown: The Musical as well as the national tour of Smokey Joe’s CafĂ©.

This all-star cast of singers features Dominic Scaglione, Jr. (far left) who currently plays the role of Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys on Broadway; Charl Brown (second to left) who was Tony-nominated for Best Actor in a Musical for his breakout role as Smokey Robinson in Broadway's Motown the Musical. John Michael Dias who played the role of Frankie Valli on Broadway and all over the country in the national tours of Jersey Boys; Dominic Nolfi (second to right) who was recently a part of the ensemble cast for Paper Mill Playhouse's A Bronx Tale, directed by Robert DeNiro and Chazz Palminteri, and also appeared in the Broadway productions of Jersey Boys (as Tommy DeVito) and Motown the Musical (as Barney Ales); Dwayne Cooper (right), who is the modern day metamorphosis of Sammy Davis, Jr. and Barry White, is a triple threat by industry standards and has appeared in Broadway's Motown the Musical and Hairspray. Touring the United States for the first time since 2002, Hugo y Ines present their classic combination of mime, dance, and puppetry to tell poetic stories about everyday life through characters that they created over a twenty-five year span, using their feet, hands, elbows, knees, and a few props. 

This engagement of Hugo y Ines is funded through the Mid Atlantic Tours program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
