The Filthiest Show in Town with Paul Pecorino, Rob Eco, Mario Cantone and Randy Rainbow Premieres April 29

FILTHY, HILARIOUS AND LEWD 7-PART MINISERIES: THE DESTRUCTION OF JANE

WHENwill begin weekly installments on Thursday, April 29 at 8 a.m. A new episode will premiere on every subsequent Thursday, and the final entry will be a short film summing up the series.

Edgar Rice Burroughs will be spinning in his grave this spring. A new seven-part miniseries, titled THE DESTRUCTION OF JANE, is set to debut this month inspired by the infamous film Tarzan the Ape Man, starring Bo Derek and Miles O’Keefe (for which Derek was proudly named Worst Actress at the 1981 Razzie Awards).

The new miniseries is an unauthorized parody of the King of the Jungle, told from the point of view of Miss Jane Parker

THE DESTRUCTION OF JANE stars Paul Pecorino and Rob Eco as Jane and Tarzan respectively, and features special cameo appearances by Mario Cantone and Randy Rainbow. Written by Paul Pecorino and directed by Drue Pennella, THE DESTRUCTION OF JANE was filmed on location in the Catskills and New York City.

Set in the current COVID-19 pandemic, this outrageous comedy follows Jane to the African Jungle where she meets and falls in love with the spectacular specimen we all know as the legendary Tarzan. The 1981 Tarzan film became a massive financial hit due to its dizzyingly unintentional bad taste, and screenwriter Paul Pecorino has set out to push these offensively vulgar boundaries even further.

“Tarzan remains one of the most successful fictional characters to this day and is a cultural icon. Many people don’t know this, but Tarzan was born out of the Spanish flu pandemic to lighten the mood and bring some joy back to the population. I thought what better time than now to do the same,” Paul states.

Paul Pecorino has starred Off-Broadway in Devil Boys from Beyond (New World Stages), The Crumple Zone (Rattlestick) and as Sylvia St. Croix in Ruthless! He starred as Frank 'N' Furter in the international tour of The Rocky Horror Show. His popularity in recreating the Sweetest of Transvestites throughout Europe led him to record a tribute Solo CD entitled Perfectly Frank in collaboration with author Richard O'Brien.

Model/actor Rob Eco scored the role of Tarzan in THE DESTRUCTION OF JANE largely from his viral and now iconic photographs, which first appeared in The Advocate under the headline “Artist Spotlight: Tarzan in New York.” Rob is also an accomplished physical trainer and competitive bodybuilder.

Mario Cantone achieved fame as the brutally honest, bitchy Anthony Marantino on “Sex and the City.” His numerous Broadway credits include Love! Valour! Compassion!, Assassins, The Tempest, and Laugh Whore.

Randy Rainbow is a comedian, singer and international YouTube sensation, where he spoofs interviews with famous figures and parodies musical numbers with a political focus.

The director of photography for THE DESTRUCTION OF JANE is Erik Paulsen, with music by Drew Fornarola and David Nehls; orchestrations by Paul Doust; costumes & wigs by David Mitsch; makeup & wig styling by Vera Stromsted, Donanyely Mejia and Marty Thomas; and specialty costumes by Gail Baldoni. THE DESTRUCTION OF JANE is presented by Pure Motion Pictures.

CROSSROADS TOWN TALKS SERIES CAPTURE POST ELECTION THOUGHTS OF VETERAN ARTISTS, YOUNG ACTIVISTS, COMMUNITY

The second installment of Crossroads Theatre Company’s Town Talks series on the importance of voting, The Day After Conversations—Looking Back: Reflections from the American Theatre, began streaming November 5. This three-part series of conversations led by Ricardo Khan were recorded immediately after Election Day to capture the thoughts and reflections of veteran artists, young activists, and today’s drum majors for justice. The full series streams through Nov. 16.

The Town Talks program is offered as part of Crossroads Theatre Company’s virtual platform to educate and engage audiences locally, regionally and nationally on the hot topics and burning questions that define the concerns of Americans prior to and since the election. Town Talks stream two to four weeks every month to April 2021. The post-Election 2020 conversations were recorded at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) and the United Methodist Church in New Brunswick, NJ.  Zendesk, a global technology company, is sponsoring these events

The Day After Conversations are led by Crossroads Co-Founder Ricardo Khan. who is joined in the first segment Looking Back: Reflections from the American Theatre by Nikkole Salter, Actress and Playwright and Richard Wesley, award-winning Playwright and Screenwriter. “We've brought together Black theatre professionals who have something to say about the most consequential US election in our history. They'll examine the role and responsibility of black theatre in telling the stories that emerge from the themes that played out live before and since Election Day,” said Khan.

The second segment, entitled Contemporary Activism: The Struggle Continues, will explore how the Presidential election will define our nation for the next generation.  The new generation of young activists from the area will offer real talk about post-Election democracy, civility, and moving a divided country forward. It streams Nov. 10-16.

Dangerous Waters: Raising and Protecting the Next Generation will stream Nov. 12-16.  Khan will be joined by Rev. Cyndi Stouffer of United Methodist Church in New Brunswick, NJ and parishioners of school-aged children.  The subject will be about the consequences of this election in relation to the issues of racial and social justice and education.

Launching Crossroads Town Talks series is a very fitting tribute to the late Congressman John Lewis, among the original drum majors or justice,” said Anthony Carter, President of Crossroads Board of Trustees.  Carter reminds us of the importance Lewis placed on the arts as an influencer and documenter of history with a quote from Lewis that says “without the arts, without music, without dance, without drama, without photography, the civil rights movement would have been like a bird without wings.”

EXHIBITION ON SCREEN (EOS) has been bringing exhibition-based art films to audiences across the globe since 2011. They work with major museum and galleries to launch films which provide an immerse experience in the world’s greatest art, while providing insights from major art critics and historians. Providing access to the world’s greatest art and artistic institutions, each film offers a cinematic journey into the personal and creative lives of history’s best-loved artists. Since being launched in 2011 by filmmaker Phil Grabsky, EOS has released 19 films which have been shown in more than 60 countries across the globe.

These films at the Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre will reveal the story behind Degas’ obsessive pursuit for perfection; how Picasso’s lesser-known early years shaped his rise to international fame; and honor the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt’s death.

“My team and I are delighted to give viewers behind-the-scenes access to some of the world’s greatest galleries and museums and to tell the stories of history’s most influential artists. I hope these three films inspire viewers to continue discovering the lives of artists who have shaped our cultural heritage, and will continue to do so for many years to come,” said Phil Grabsky, Executive Producer and director of EOS.

Degas: A Passion for Perfection

This film journeys from a superb exhibition at The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, whose extensive collection of Degas’ works is the most representative in Britain, to the streets of Paris. It tells the fascinating story of Degas’ obsessive pursuit for perfection through both experimentation with new techniques and lessons learnt from studying the past masters. Using written accounts by friends and commentators, and the narration of letters written by Degas himself, this film reveals a darker truth behind one of the most influential French artists of the late 19th-century and serves as an exploration of the complex workings of Degas’ artistic mind.

Young Picasso

Many films have dealt with Picasso’s later years - the art, the affairs and the wide circle of friends. Somewhat overlooked, this film looks at the early years of Picasso; the upbringing and the learning that led to his extraordinary achievements. Three cities play a key role: Malaga, Barcelona and Paris. The film explores the influence of each on the artist, focusing on specific artworks from these early years. Looking carefully at two key early periods—the so-called Blue Period and Rose Period—the film takes us all the way to 1907 and the creation of a key painting in the history of art—Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, which Picasso painted at 25 years old. Working closely with all three Picasso Museums in Malaga, Barcelona and Paris this film explains how he rose to such great heights.

Directed by Phil Grabsky, this film runs 85 minutes.

Rembrandt, Portrait of a Couple as Isaac and Rebecca, known as The Jewish Bride, c. 1665 © RijksWednesday, April 10, 2019
Rembrandt

This film marks the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt's death, and explores the major show of the artist’s works hosted by London’s National Gallery and Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum. Rembrandt’s life story is interwoven throughout, alongside behind-the-scenes preparations at these world famous institutions. For many, Rembrandt is the greatest artist that ever lived and this deeply moving film seeks to explore the truth about the man behind the legend.

Directed by Kat Mansoor, this film runs 90 minutes.

The Morris Museum is hosting several other curated film series this season including Inside Cinema, Real to Reel, and the Black Maria Film Festival. Visit morrismuseum.org/film to get further details on all film offerings.
