KALEIDOSCOPE THEATRE FOR YOUTH SETS AUDITIONS FOR SUMMER SEASON

Are you ready for a summer on the stage? Kaleidoscope has something for everyone!

Junior Workshop:
101 Dalmatians

101 Dalmatians is geared to our elementary-aged performers. This adorable show offers lots of featured moments for the entire cast so everyone will get their chance to shine! This show is structured like our typical workshop program (Winnie the Pooh, Pirates Past Noon, etc.) where our actors will spend three hours a day for one week learning a show but also learning about teamwork, commitment, respect and all of the other important lessons theatre has to offer. This program will run July 17-21 with performances July 21-23. We offer both a morning and an afternoon session.

MainStage:
Faith, Trust, & Pixie Dust, A Collection of Disney Songs

Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust: A Collection of Disney Songs is an exciting new production geared toward our high school and college-age performers. This show, built entirely around our actors, will feature your favorite Disney songs and a fun, comedic script. All of our performers will have featured moments throughout the production. Because of the nature of the show, the rehearsal process will be low-commitment and performers will only be called when their numbers are rehearsing. This show rehearses evenings July 9-August 2 with performances August 3-6.

Advanced Workshop:
G2K R&H's Cinderella

Cinderella is a chance for our middle school and early high school-aged performers to shine! This extra special production (more info coming soon!!!) will be similar to our recent pilot production of Oliver, JR and our pilot production of Junie B. Jones. We are looking for talented performers to bring this magical show to life. This advanced workshop, unlike the junior workshop, is an intense, fast paced program designed like our other short processed productions. The cast will meet for 5 hours a day for 8 days to put together the biggest show of the season!

Because of the structured nature of the program, there is a registration fee (unlike our MainStage production); however, it is our goal to make our productions as accessible as possible, so please reach out to Lindsay at info@pixiedustplayers.org to discuss payment plan options as well as volunteer opportunities for discounted rates. This program runs July 31-August 9 with performances August 9-13. NOTE: This does NOT conflict with Papermill's Summer Conservatory.

Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver's chances of discovering the true love of a family.

This epic musical tells the story of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and the story of Noah and the flood. With incredibly beautiful and moving music by acclaimed Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz ("Pippin," "Godspell," "Wicked," and Disney films including "Enchanted" and "Pocahontas"), this production features a talented cast of young performers who tell these timeless stories about parents, children, and their endlessly complex relationships.

Featuring well-known songs such as "The Spark of Creation," "Lost in the Wilderness," and "Stranger to the Rain," this 65-minute adaptation is the perfect family musical!

Lindsay Maron, founder of Pixie Dust Players, is the director and choreographer and features musical direction is by Alex Ratner.

coe groupThis production will be the first-ever of a junior version of Children of Eden and is a major achievement for Kaleidoscope and The Summit Playhouse. Earlier this year Maron, currently studying at Northwestern University, contacted Stephen Schwartz about the possibility of turning the full length Children of Eden production into a shorter version appropriate for schools and community theater companies. Intrigued by the concept, Schwartz contacted Music Theater International (MTI), who reached out to Maron to learn more about her work at the Summit Playhouse. Within a week she was granted the rights for this special adaptation.

After staging a successful reading at Northwestern she submitted her proposed script detailing her changes and edits. After talking with Schwartz, MTI approved Maron's script and it is now the working script for Children of Eden, Jr.

"It's been so rewarding working with the performers to make this adaptation even better before we present it for MTI, the creators, and our audiences this summer," Maron said. "I have always loved 'Children of Eden' because of the wonderful storytelling and the beautiful music. I think there is something extra special about these well-known stories being told by children and teenagers. I am thrilled to have the chance to make this show more accessible for other youth theaters and school groups and look forward to seeing its future."
