Circulation assistant, Paulette Anen recommends The Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson, which tells the exciting narrative of the discovery and exploration of a wrecked World War II German U-Boat 60 miles off the coast of Brielle, N.J. and about 230 feet below the surface. Deep-water dive boat captain Bill Nagle and his friend John Chatterton spent 6 years on this operation, determining that the submarine was U-869. Three members of its crew died in the wreck, including a father and his son. Kurson also extensively discusses the dangers of deep-water diving.
