CIRCLE PLAYERS TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR “ROMEO & JULIET”

WHEN: 1 PM Sunday, Jan. 26, and 7 PM Monday, Jan. 27
WHERE:
Circle Players, 416 Victoria Ave., Piscataway

PERFORMANCES: 8 PM Fridays and Saturdays, April 25-May 10, with a 3 PM matinee on Sunday, May 11. Auditioners: Please note that there will be no rehearsal Sunday, April 20 (Easter). Technical rehearsals will begin Saturday, April 19.

Fight rehearsals will be Saturday mornings in February. Blocking will begin in March.

This a modern-day update of the classic Shakespeare play; the major action will take place in and around a private parochial school. All ages and types are welcome, as much of the casting will be determined by the ages of the actors cast in the various roles. Also gender is not an issue for certain roles such as the Prince and Balthazar. Fighting and/or dance experience are plusses, but not mandatory.

Characters needed are:

  • Romeo - male, late teens early 20s
  • Juliet - female late teens early 20s
  • Mercutio - male, 20s-30s
  • Benvolio - male, late teens, early 20s
  • Nurse – female, 40ish
  • Friar Laurence - male, mid 30s-50s
  • Capulet - male, 40s-50
  • Lady Capulet - female, 30s-40s
  • Montague - male, 40s-50s
  • Paris – male, 20s-30s
  • Tybalt – male, 20s
  • Prince – male or female, 40s
  • B– female, late teens-early 20s
  • and various smaller roles (students/servants of varying ages).
