OPENING THIS WEEKEND @ DEEP SPACE GALLERY IN JERSEY CITY

Happy Summer to you, Deep Space friends and family! Come celebrate the start of summer with us *THIS WEEKEND* for our two-day Opening Reception of WALLS TO SMALLS II featuring gallery works by local, regional and international street artists and muralists. This will be our second iteration of this exhibition, the first one taking place back in the winter of 2018. With the warm weather comes the perfect climate for embellishing walls with artists' personal mark and individual styles. Those who are known so well on the streets aren't necessarily known for their works indoors on gallery walls. This show is an opportunity to take a little piece of what these artists do outside and bring it home with you. It's also a way to support and show appreciation for their public artworks, an endeavor often pursued regardless of compensation. All ages are welcome and four-legged friends, too!! The exhibiting artists will be on the premises at various points throughout the Opening Reception weekend. Our first floor variety shop (downstairs from the gallery) will be hosting our summertime "WEEKENDS AT THE HIVE" pop up market featuring a number of local small business vendors. Guests are invited to check out the market and hunt for great finds from local artisans, makers and object curators! *Visit time slots are 30 minutes each and there is a maximum of six visitors in the gallery at a time. Masks and social distancing are required. We also encourage regular use of hand sanitizer and hand washing. NEW EXHIBITS @ JERSEY CITY'S DEEP SPACE GALLERY!

 

Greetings, Deep Space friends and family!

With summer right around the corner, things are heating up and this weekend is guaranteed to be a hot one in Jersey City.  You may or may not have heard about Jersey City’s first annual Mural Festival which officially kicks off Saturday and Sunday with artists in town from both around the globe and around the corner. This is a huge event with over 30 new murals going up across the city but mainly concentrated at the Mana Campus and at the Harmony/ Moishe’s complex near Hamilton Park.  The festival will also have 2 beer gardens and a multitude of food trucks at these locations. https://jerseycitymuralfestival.com/.  If you haven’t made it over to Deep Space yet for “Cat Aesthetics” our first ever cat themed exhibition, don’t fret. The show will be up for another week and we are open daily by appointment. Even if you’re not a cat person, you can still take one of these cuties home; cats are very low maintenance, and these require only an occasional dusting! Join us for the Opening Reception of CAT AESTHETICS, our much-anticipated cat-themed exhibition featuring more than 75 works by over 30 artists based locally and abroad. We are big animal lovers here at Deep Space, and we definitely have a very special affection for felines, as do many of our artists.

Open today! International Women's Day virtual exhibition "THE MOTHER SHIPMENT"

We are delighted to announce the return of our annual all women exhibition in honor of International Women's Day (and to kick off Women's History Month!). We are launching an online exclusive exhibition (instead of in the gallery) so that the show can be viewed from anywhere and so we can include artists from all over the country and the world without limitations.

The show is live on Artsy as of today, International Women's Day (IWD), and can be viewed at this link: THE MOTHER SHIPMENT. The works in this show are incredible and highlight the spectacular talents of 33 artists who work in a wide variety of mediums, styles and palettes. There's truly something for everyone in the show. We hope that you will help us fulfill one of this year's main missions of IWD, to "celebrate the work of women creatives" and elevate their visibility by collecting their artwork. All works will be on view virtually through April 8th and purchases can be shipped worldwide. 

ABOUT THIS EXHIBITION This online exclusive show features over 100 spectacular pieces including works on paper, paintings, prints, photography, textile art, digital art and sculptures. The artists of the "THE MOTHER SHIPMENT" are based locally, nationally and internationally. The artworks, although all unique, complement one another so beautifully. Our annual all women MOTHERSHIP series of shows in celebration of International Women's Day have become community building experiences for the participating artists. The women involved have developed long lasting bonds that have led to collaborative creative endeavors and of course mutual support and inspiration. For some artists in this show, this will be their first time showing with Deep Space and we are so happy to welcome them into the greater Deep Space family.
