Abelardo
Morell: Projecting Italy
On loan from the
Fitchburg Art Museum, Abelardo Morell: Projecting Italy
highlights twelve photographs of sites in Italy by world-renowned
photographer Abelardo Morell. Morell found a way to transform
interior spaces such as hotel rooms and offices into giant camera
obscuras which allows for whatever is happening outside to be
projected inside. The result is a unique view of iconic landmarks
such as the Pizza San Marco in Venice as they are cast against
furniture, wall hangings, doors, and other furnishings. See if you
can distinguish the outside world from the interior fixtures in all
of Morell's photographs currently on display at MAM.

Abelardo Morell: Projecting Italy was organized by the Fitchburg Art Museum (FAM) where
it was on view last year. The exhibition at FAM was supported
in part by a generous grant from the Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio
Endowment, Center for Italian Culture, Fitchburg State University.
