Black Violin Performs at Kean University!

Kev Marchus and Will Baptiste in their new video

Black Violin:
Impossible Tour

Friday, Sep 24, @  7:30 pm
Wilkins Theatre

Wil B. and Kev Marcus started out covering hip-hop songs on their violins and soon realized they had something that audiences had never heard before. Then, Black Violin was born.

Their unique blend of classical, hip hop, jazz, R&B and reggae is often described as "classical boom.” Black Violin has collaborated with a diverse group of artists including Kanye West, Tom Petty, Alicia Keys, Aerosmith and Wu-Tang Clan.

The video featured here plays "Impossible is Possible," a song that's part of their new Take the Stairs album. Kev Marcus remarks “We had all the ideas about what story we were going to convey. And it kept coming back to the idea of hope—songs that spoke about going against the grain, carrying through struggle, being optimistic. We wanted to say, ‘it’s tough now, but hang in there.’”

Show Note: Haze and strobe lights will be used during the performance.
