Member Experiences: Virtual Exhibition Tour of Arts of Global Africa
Tuesday, August 18, 10am
Join us for a docent-led virtual gallery tour of the Museum’s Arts of Global Africa collection. The works range from historic artifacts, primarily dating to the late 19th and early 20th century, to examples of contemporary artistic creativity. The continental scope of the collection—especially its inclusion of art from northern, eastern and southern African countries—is a particular strength.
If you would like to attend the event please send an email to membership@newarkmuseumart.org.

Summer
Stargazing
Tuesday, August 18, 9:30pm
Join our Planetarium manager along with members of the North Jersey Astronomical Group for some summertime stargazing. We will take you on a virtual tour of the stars, constellations and planets that are visible now. Then, weather permitting, we will give you a live telescopic view of a star cluster, nebulae and perhaps even a galaxy.
Click here to register for the Zoom session. Will also stream on Facebook Live.

Lunch & Learn: An Artful Conversation with Dahlia Elsayed
Thursday, August 20, Noon
Artist Dahlia Elsayed makes paintings and sculpture that read like a visual diary of worldbuilding. Her fictional landscapes evoke both material place and psychological states, and suggest a dual way of reading personal territory that encourages exploration, pause and suggestion. She will talk about her recent projects and studio practice during the months of lockdown.
Click here to register for the Zoom session. Will also stream on Facebook Live.
