Murder Mystery: Who Killed Cynthia Conner?

  Tuesday, March 30, 7pm 

Can you solve this cold case mystery? The morning after her big art exhibition opening, Cynthia Conner is found dead. Search the museum, interview suspects, and use forensic science to determine whether her death was an accident or something else.

This is a preview of the game. We hope to hear your feedback immediately following game play.

Art Face-Off: Battle of the Wards
North Ward


 Week of March 29 
 

Art Face-Off is an audience-juried art competition between five artists, each representing a Newark ward, who will compete in a final round on April 22 at 7pm.

During the few weeks, we're inviting participants from each ward to compete on Instagram or Facebook for a spot in the final round. This week is the North Ward!

The winners from each ward will also be featured on the Museum’s social media channels and receive an honorarium of $300.

Virtual Homeschool: Native American Artists

In celebration of Women’s History Month, we are marveling at the stylish and fierce Kesh Angels by Hassan Hajjaj, while we whip up the rich Moroccan classic Mujadara. May this warm comfort food of caramelized onions, rice, and lentils give us the same confidence as these all-female bikers who are clearly comfortable in their own skins.

Learn how art and artifacts tell us stories from our past. Homeschoolers will learn how to study a painting and uncover the story of Early America. They will visit The Newark Museum of Art’s authentic schoolhouse and discuss how children lived and learned in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Virtual Workshop: Fun with Polymer Clay

Learn a skill that can lead to hours of artistic exploration with basic materials. Instructor Bonnie Bishoff will demonstrate how to create simple, but complex-looking, bead designs out of polymer clay. Get a feel for this medium and replicate glassmaking techniques to create a variety of colorful, patterned designs with great possibilities for creative variation.

Linda to Participate in Panel at Deaccesssioning After 2020 Hosted by Syracuse University

Taking place March 17-19, this virtual event will comprehensively address collections and deaccessioning in the context of the economic fallout of the pandemic and the national call to rethink the role and responsibilities of museums and their collections in an increasingly diverse and complex world.
