Circulation assistant Eileen Tooman recommends An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. An African-American man is wrongfully accused and convicted of the rape of a white woman in rural Louisiana. This beautifully written epistolary novel details the effects his incarceration has on his marriage. He is exonerated on appeal but 5 years of incarceration have left scars. A thoughtful and touching story.
