From the artist:

Prior to becoming an artist, I raised my family and taught at Washington Elementary School in West Orange for 30 years. After retiring in 2004, I was able to pursue my desire to paint in a non-realistic style.

When I began, skies were my subjects. I loved their constantly changing colors and patterns. With time, cracks in walls, decaying buildings, configurations of rocks and fallen trees attracted me. These became the basis for my paintings.

I’ve worked with oils and acrylics over the years. Recently, I’ve been working with with oil paints and cold wax, using palette knives and various tools to create textured paintings that may or may not have definite structure. They evolve from my thoughts and emotions. They may be peaceful and quiet, or may give the viewer a feeling of energy and movement.

Experiencing the pleasures of continuing artistic growth has been gratifying. I look forward to many more years of doing so.
