ROSALINDE (high lyric soprano) - A gay, charming lady married to Eisenstein; fond of mild flirtation, aware of her attractiveness to men.
GABRIEL EISENSTEIN (tenor or high baritone) - A gentleman of independent means; an incorrigible, irresponsible philanderer, but very likeable.
ADELE (lyric coloratura) - Rosalinde's maid; has a cunning sense of humor; fancies herself as a charmer and actress.
DR. FALKE (lyric baritone) - Notary, friend of Eisenstein; elegant, smooth-talking, sly-minded practical joker; rather sinister.
ALFRED (lyric tenor) - Italian opera singer of high C's; former flame of Rosalinde; hoping to reignite their relationship behind her husband's back; flamboyant and melodramatic.
FRANK (lyric baritone) - Prison warden; stolid, but inclined to silliness when persuaded to have a night out.
PRINCE ORLOFSKY (mezzo-soprano) - A blasé, bored Russian millionaire who gives lavish parties; broad-minded; kindly at heart.
IDA (soprano or mezzo-soprano) - Sister of Adele, whom she aids and abets; a ballerina; fond of a good time.
DR. BLINT (buffo tenor) - A none-too-competent fuddy-duddy lawyer; confused and foolish.
