Harmonium Choral Society has a limited number of openings in all voice parts for experienced singers with good sight-reading ability.
Weekly rehearsals resume Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mendham. Harmonium schedules three major concerts—held in December, March, and June—as well as a Chamber Singers concert and special appearances throughout the year.
THE 2019-2020 SEASON
This year’s December concert, “Words Matter,” will feature two world premieres: “In the Beginning was the Word,” a new commission from Sarah Rimkus, and “The Children of All Others” by composer-in-residence Mark Miller, as well as works from Hassler to Vaughan Williams celebrating the season and the importance of our words.

Our early spring concert focuses on mental health with the major new cantata “Open Minds” by Rob Redei on poetry by Deborah Kennedy. More information may be found at www.openmindssavelives.org.

The June concert, "Moondance," will celebrate global repertoire about the moon, and will feature the winner of the 23rd annual High School Student Choral Composition Contest.

July 1 through 11, 2020 offers an opportunity to perform with members of the chorus on an international tour to the Balkans, including Croatia and Slovenia. Rehearsals begin June 13th and include a preview concert on Monday, June 29, 2020.
Harmonium concert soloists are usually selected from the chorus’s 100-voice membership, over one-third of whom are professional musicians and/or music educators. Singers are also invited to audition for the Harmonium Chamber Singers, a 20-voice vocal ensemble selected from the full Harmonium chorus.

Harmonium Choral Society, based in Morris County, is one of New Jersey's leading choral arts organizations. The 100-voice choral society has been recognized for its musical excellence and innovative programming, and has commissioned and premiered works by Amanda Harberg, Matthew Harris, Elliot Z. This innovative program won the prestigious Chorus America Education and Outreach Award. Harmonium has toured internationally to England and Wales, Eastern Europe, Northern Italy, Spain and Portugal, and Greece and Turkey, and most recently traveled to the Baltics in the summer of 2016.
