Sleeping Beauty is recognized as one of the supreme achievements of classical ballet. The ballet is based on the classic French fairy tale by Charles Perrault: a beautiful princess is cursed by an evil fairy and doomed to sleep for 100 years—only to be awakened by the kiss of the handsome prince who loves her. Act III includes many classic fairytale scenes including the famous Aurora’s Wedding pas de deux, Blue Bird, Puss-n-Boots and a pas de quatre.

Representing the second company of the acclaimed Houston Ballet, America’s fourth largest ballet company, this ensemble of exceptionally talented young dancers brings accomplished professionalism to each performance, having toured throughout Texas, nationally and abroad. Significant talent emanates from within, and many of the outstanding young “up and comers” will soon “graduate” on to prestigious international companies such as San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, as well as Houston Ballet and beyond.
