Introduction to Adobe Photoshop
with Joe Morelli

Interested in getting up-to-date with the digital age? This class offers instruction in the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop. Learn about the interface and tools, using layers, how to manage and edit photos, digital collage, and more. Create your own digital art by manipulating hand-drawn sketches within Photoshop. Use your new skills to create comic strips, graphic novels, and digital paintings. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptop computer to work on their own projects. Photoshop CS4 or later is recommended.

Beginner and Beyond in Adobe Photoshop

Now that you know the basics of Adobe Photoshop, we’ll cover some more in-depth features. Learn about layer effects, vectors, masks, filters, and more. We’ll discuss ways to use Photoshop efficiently and effectively to import and edit photos and artwork, as well as create original textures and graphics using this powerful program. Class will run in an easy-to-follow, step-by-step format so that beginners, as well as the more experienced students, will be able to keep pace and bring their illustrations into the digital age!

Students are encouraged to bring their own laptop computers to work on their own projects. Photoshop CS4 or later is recommended.

Digital Arts and Design with Adobe Photoshop

Learn how to visually communicate with style! Move beyond the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop in this intermediate level class to explore Digital Design at a deeper level. You’ve learned how to navigate the program, now we’ll address more complex issues in 2-D design. We’ll cover some graphic design basics and learn about designing a logo, choosing fonts, and composing layouts, and more. You’ll be well on your way to creating everyting from awesome posters and graphics, to business cards and brochures.

Students are encouraged to bring their own laptop computers to work on their own projects. Photoshop CS4 or later is recommended.

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS FOR TEENS (ages 16+) & ADULTS

Coiled Bangle Bracelet Workshop
with Sandra Lupo
WHEN: Saturday, February 1, 10 AM-4 PM
TUITION: Museum member $90 / non-member $100 / bead kit

Coil away as you create this popular original design bangle in sterling silver, silver-filled or colored copper wire. Work with local artisan lamp-work bead sets in wonderful shapes and vibrant colors, all to blend with your handmade wire coils. You will learn how to make a unique clasp to finish the design. Supply list available upon registration and a kit of wire, beads and gadgets available through instructor. All levels welcome!

Printing without a Press Workshop

WHEN: Sunday, March 9, 1-4 PM
TUITION: Museum member $60 / non-member $70 / supply $10

Enjoy an afternoon exploring how to make art prints without a press. Draw and ink images on foam boards for transfer; roll ink onto a plate and scrape away the image; carve your own stamp to use with ink. There are a number of wonderful ways to create unique note cards, personalize writing paper, decorate special occasion place cards, or any number of paper items. No experience is necessary—just come have some fun!

Mosaic Workshop

Discover the joys of designing and assembling a mosaic work of art. Learn basic glass and tile cutting techniques, placement of tiles, and gluing and grouting, as you create a unique and colorful trivet. Set it on your kitchen counter, a coffee table, or hang it on a wall for a splash of eye-catching art! No design or mosaic experience is required—all levels welcome!
