FILM ABOUT ITALIAN MASTER TAILORS @ MONDO IN SUMMIT

Mondo Large Format Logo

Film Society of Summit presents

MEN OF THE CLOTH
A Documentary On Italian Master Tailors
Q+A to follow with Director Vicki Vasilopolous

WHEN: Friday, January 9th, 8 PM
WHERE:
Mondo, 426 Springfield Ave., Summit
TICKETS: $12 in advance, $14 at the door
E-mail info@mondosummit.com to Reserve!

An inspiring portrait of three Italian master tailors who confront the decline of the apprectice system in the twilight of their career. The film unravels the mystery of their artistry and reveals how their passionate devotion to their Old World craft is akin to a religion.

Italian tailors Nino Corvato, Joe Centofanti and Checchino Fonticoli are masters who have spent a lifetime perfecting the skills necessary to construct flawless custom-made suits for their clients in New York City, Philadelphia and Penne, Italy, a fascinating process broken down step-by-step in the documentary.

Each character's story gives us an insight into the past, present and future of their craft.  We see the intimate connection with their tools and the tactile nature of their trade as they work in studied concentration: sewing, pressing, cutting, marking and pinning.

These artisans cherish their interactions with their clients. And as they go about their daily tasks, they share observations that are by turns nostalgic, poignant and humorous.

NJ Rep produces the U.S. Premiere of Charles Leipart’s Swimming at the Ritz, based on the real-life events of socialite Pamela Churchill Hayward Harriman, who was appointed U.S. Ambassador to France in 1993 by President Bill Clinton.

She was dubbed the ultimate “party girl” among society’s elite, the last courtesan of her time. Living the idyllic life at the luxurious Ritz in Paris for years, Harriman, who was married to the son of Winston Churchill, among others, had no problem spending her step children’s inheritance on her extravagant lifestyle. But her stepchildren had enough and conspired with their attorneys to shut her down.

On the edge of losing everything, Harriman is left with her only remaining friend, a handsome young Italian valet at the Paris Ritz Hotel. There, she reveals her journey from man to man and bed to bed, in a funny, yet compelling tour-de-force.

WHERE:
Hamilton Stage at Union County Performing Arts Center, 360 Hamilton St., Rahway

As host of Rock Star Kitchen, which airs weekly on The Comcast Network and in syndication throughout the US, Lisa has talked music and sung with Foreigner, Eddie Money, Lita Ford, John Popper, Chubby Checker, Gary US Bonds, Cy Curnin of The Fixx, Night Ranger, and Corey Glover of Living Colour.

Her style has been compared to Sheryl Crow, Jewel and Jason Mraz, but what sets her music apart is an edge reminiscent of classic artists such as Neil Young and Tom Petty.

Folk-rocker Luke Elliot will open the show. Elliot's music has been steadily gaining attention since his debut EP, Death of a Widow, was released by Yerbird Records in 2010. The EP gained him a dedicated fan base that followed him through a circuit of venues across the Northeast. The music, comprised of an eclectic mix of genres and ideas, has gained him critical acclaim as an artist to pay attention to. Luke's latest EP, Provisions, was released in June 2014.
