May Update from the Executive Director of Greenwood Gardens

Welcome Back to Greenwood!

Dear Friends,

Opening weekend begins this Friday! Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to prepare for your arrival this season, ensuring that every corner of Greenwood Gardens is alive with vibrant blossoms, serene pathways, and hidden surprises waiting to be discovered.

Whether you are a seasoned nature enthusiast or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, Greenwood promises an experience that will rejuvenate your senses and inspire your soul. There is much that awaits you!  Be sure to:

  • Stroll by the picturesque century-old cottages on your way to the gardens.
  • Take our new Greenwood Tree Tour! Simply scan the QR code that you’ll find at the Welcome Center.
  • Enjoy the sweet scents wafting through the unfurling spring garden and feast your eyes on the hundreds of new plantings added throughout the landscape.
  • Join an informative guided tour to learn about the history of the two families that made this site their home dating back to the early 20th century.
  • Admire the dramatic sweep of the Main Axis from the top of the Main Lawn staircase.
  • Allow yourself to relax as you listen to the soothing water flowing through the stately fountains at the Reflecting Pool Terrace and the Garden of the Gods.
  • Pretend you are part of a fairy tale as you take in the panoramic view from the top of the magical Arts and Crafts style Teahouse, just down the path from the Summerhouse.
  • Sit down on a comfortable teak bench overlooking the placid ponds and keep an eye out for a gaggle of energetic geese walking by.
  • Pay a visit to the barnyard where our friendly turkeys and chickens will get you talking!
  • Stop in at the Welcome Center’s gift shop filled with charming items for the special people on your list and enjoy a cup of coffee in Adelaide’s, the East Terrace Pavilion.

An enchanted journey awaits you at Greenwood this season! We can’t wait to share it with you!

See you soon,

Abby O'Neill
Executive Director
