The Chatham Community Players is
excited to present Lee Blessing’s Eleemosynary as a part of
their successful Play Reading Series. One Night ONLY –
Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 7:00 at the Chatham
Playhouse, 23 North Passaic Avenue, in Chatham. Alyson Halter directs.
The play probes into the delicate relationship of three singular women:
the grandmother, Dorothea, who has sought to assert her independence
through strong-willed eccentricity; her brilliant daughter, Artie
(Artemis), who has fled the stifling domination of her mother; and
Artie’s daughter, Echo, a child of exceptional intellect—and
sensitivity—whom Artie has abandoned to an upbringing by Dorothea.

Chatham
Players is offering an eight-week session of after school theater
classes on Tuesday Afternoons from January 16 through March 5, 2024.
Classes are open to students with all levels of experience, regardless
of whether or not they have had previous theater or acting training.
- INTRODUCTION TO ACTING (ages 11 to 17) - 3:30 to
4:30 pm. This class is specifically designed for
students who want to try acting for the first time. Using a
combination of improvisation and scripted work, you’ll learn to
develop believable characters and find a comfort level with
performing in front of an audience.
- CREATIVE DRAMA (ages 5 to 10) - 4:30 to 5:30 pm. A high-energy
experience that packs loads of fun into a single hour, this class
features theater games and various activities that help young
performers explore their individual creativity, while also
learning how to work as part of a group.
- AUDITION WORKSHOP (ages 13 to 17) - 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Whether preparing to
audition for a school production or looking toward future shows,
this workshop offers a peek behind the audition table and will
