Visual Arts at MPAC: The Pastel Society of New Jersey and Dorothy Siclare

 

MPAC is thrilled to feature two shows in our art galleries this spring! Works by artists from the Pastel Society of New Jersey can be seen in the Art Upstairs gallery, and the works of Dorothy Siclare can be seen in MPAC's Starlight Gallery.

Join us at MPAC for our opening reception on Sunday, April 23rd from 6pm-8pm! Complimentary wine and cheese will be served. Free admission; RSVP not necessary.

Pastel Society of New Jersey’s 4th Biennial Juried Signature Members Exhibition

April 18 – May 26

The Pastel Society of New Jersey’s Signature Member exhibitions feature the work of the society’s most skilled members in the use of the soft pastel medium. This Biennial Juried exhibition gives our Signature members the opportunity to earn the next level of membership with the Pastel Society: Distinguished Pastellist. With this exhibit, nine members earned that distinction.

Artist’s Statement: "My style is a relaxed mix of realism and impressionism. Pastel, oil and pencil are my mediums of choice. I have exhibited in the tri-state area for the past 15 years. I’ve been honored with awards and sales… I am blessed. I am a current member of the Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of New Jersey, Westfield Art Association, and a past member of the Center for Visual Arts, Contemporary Center of Art, Livingston Art Center, Watchung Art Center and Millburn-Short Hills Art Association."

Gemma New returns to the NJ Symphony stage along with Pianist George Li to perform works by Berlioz, Rachmaninoff and Sarah Gibson.

Sarah Gibson warp & weft

Sarah Gibson drew inspiration from artist Miriam Schapiro and the art of weaving for her melodic and colorful warp & weft, a true celebration of the creative process and art created by women.

Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini

Pianist George Li wowed Symphony audiences with his stunning performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and returns to do the same with the dazzling keyboard pyrotechnics in Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Berlioz Symphonie fantastique

Former Assistant Conductor Gemma New returns to New Jersey stages to conduct Berlioz’s extraordinary Symphonie fantastique, a fantastic tale of thwarted love, dreams and witchcraft.
