THE MUSICAL RAISIN IS
BACK...FINALLY!!
TONY WINNER REVIVED AFTER 50 YEARS
|
|
Kicking off
our 2023 season is our exciting revival of one of Broadway's most
"unsung" musicals RAISIN, winner of the Tony Award for Best
Musical, in a new production guided by TV icon Phylicia
Rashad and director Evelyn Collins.
If you don't
know the play Raisin in the Sun, you're in store for a
funny, moving family drama set in the 1950s about three generations
of the Younger family – and how they will spend a $10,000 insurance
check (that's about $125 K today!). Should it pay for medical school,
a business investment (that rhymes with "liquor") or a new
home?

In 2021 the U.S. Postal Service
celebrates tap dancing, describing it as “a uniquely American
contribution to world dance," featuring our choreographer
Dormeshia.
|
|
In fantastic
song and dance—choreography by tap legend Dormeshia,
making her Axelrod debut—RAISIN
comes to
life in this new revival led by Fredi Walker-Browne (pictured), who created the role of Joanne in the original company
of RENT.
