Which animals are endangered in our state? What does that even mean? Find out which species are in trouble, why, and how you can help! At the end, you will be able to meet our state endangered corn snake named Sniffles! Learn more!

Take a stroll on the wintery farm. See what changed throughout the seasons and make a craft to take home. Join us!

In this series, kids get into the woods, learning different outdoor skills, meeting other like-minded kids and building confidence. In this session, they learn about survival shelters and build a debris shelter. Click here for more info!

December 5

This month Plant of the Month Club will meet in person just for the holidays. Learn about all kinds of evergreens from the Frelinghuysen Arboretum's gardens. Kids will use them to make a kissing ball -- but no kissing allowed! Check it out!

STAYING WARM – December 6 at Pyramid Mountain and December 13 at Great Swamp

It's cold out there! How do the animals handle it? There are many different strategies, and we will explore them all. We will even try to insulate tiny "frogs" and see if we can keep them warm in the dens we build.

HOLIDAY HISTORY – December 8

How was Christmas celebrated in the past? Tour The Willows mansion decorated for different decades of Christmas and learn all about it! Learn more here.

Our nighttime feathery friends come out at dusk to hunt. We'll learn about their unique adaptations and how they spend the winter as we take a walk on the trails to observe their forest habitat. We will also dissect a real owl pellet! Learn more.

In this series, nature-minded adults can take a deep dive into various natural history topics each month with an expert naturalist. In this session, join us for an indoor presentation followed by a walk through the Great Swamp to learn about how New Jersey's wildlife has adapted to surviving the winter in a multitude of different ways, sometimes in a drastic fashion!
