IS SEARCHING FOR A NEW
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 

WHERE: Harrisburg, PA Industry: Non-Profit
Salary Range: $30,000-$35,000 annually
Job Type: Full-time


SUMMARY:

An exciting opportunity to lead the Central PA Friends of Jazz, a central Pennsylvania institution for 43 years, reporting to the Board of Directors, awaits the ideal candidate. This role provides leadership and overall direction of the organization in its mission to coordinate, educate, promote, and stimulate interest in jazz to enthusiasts, future enthusiasts, and organizations across this great region. The Executive Director will ensure that the organization has the necessary leadership, growth, direction, and development administered in accordance and partnership with the Board. They will possess a keen understanding of the necessity of building strong, collaborative relationships that situate the organization for broadening our outreach.
 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Executive Presence:

  • Provide thoughtful executive and strategic leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors
  • Provide leadership in developing and/or evolving strategic and organizational plans along with executing policies authorized by the Board
  • Establish goals and objectives to attain consistent and timely growth in collaboration with the Board of Directors, staff, and other leaders
  • Apply innovative thinking and performance measurements to analyze, support and drive implementation to the strategic plan
  • Communicate effectively with the Board by providing members with all information necessary to continually function properly and make informed decisions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Attend all Board meetings to provide reports and updates on staff as well as all current work including financial, project timelines, project, and organizational results
  • Assist in Board Development, recruitment, and education

 
Fundraising:

  • Drive community engagement, development of strategic beneficial relationships with local individuals and organizations, all to achieve fundraising objectives
  • Research and secure all relevant grant sources and funding

 
Fiscal:

 

  • Oversee and actively employ prudent fiscal management through hands-on budgetary development and oversight to ensure CPFJ's financial sustainability

 

Operations:

  • Oversee, actively manage, and perform general, day-to-day operational duties ensuring the successful functioning of the organization
  • Organize, motivate, and mentor internal team leaders to strategically grow the organization’s impact and programs to effectively fulfill its mission
  • Inspire and foster an accountable, business-oriented, professional, collaborative, and results-driven environment across the organization
  • Manage and motivate staff, overseeing processes such as recruiting, hiring, separation, ongoing staff development, performance management, along with compensation and benefits
  • Recruit, organize, train and manage a diverse pool of volunteers to perform vital organizational tasks and operations

 
Promotion and Impact:

  • Effectively represent the organization and promote a positive organizational image to ensure adequate community representation
  • Create, place, and manage all marketing, advertising, and social media for the organization
  • Strive to grow the geographic reach and influence of CPFJ

 
Legal:

  • Ensure compliance with all laws as well as established moral and ethical standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years of previous experience managing an organization or team
  • Creative entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to perform role responsibilities with independent judgment
  • Practical and creative problem-solving skills
