Morris County Park Commission Plant Records Curator, Zinnia Cheetham, will talk about what makes a Champion Tree; how to determine if you have one of your own; and highlight the more than 70 Champion Trees in the Morris County Park Commission's parks. Click here to learn more!

ARBOR DAY TREES

April 22

Just in time for Arbor Day, celebrated on the last Friday of April, The Frelinghuysen Arboretum will distribute trees offered by the New Jersey Forest Service and the Arbor Day Foundation. Supplies are limited and trees will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cost: FREE.

Learning to read? Our animals would love to help! Come practice your reading skills by reading to the farm animals at Fosterfields. Come join us!

Be it frozen frogs, busy beavers or hunting herons, the creatures of the Great Swamp have some downright weird adaptations. Join us as we explore the wild ways that the wetland organisms have adapted to their environments with a guided walk and activities. Learn more here.

Families with pre-K aged kids will take a walk on the trails and around the farm, learning about the natural world around them. Click here for more info!

PARK STEWARDSHIP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

April 24

Volunteers will join the Natural Resources Department from 9am until 12pm to remove woody invasive plants from the vicinity of a small meadow at Lewis Morris County Park. Click here to learn more and sign up! Limited spots available.

Mother’s Day is Coming:

Adult and child pairs will create three bars of soap for mom, grandma or anyone special in their life. Using glycerin, herbs and essential oils, everyone will make their own unique soap blend! Sign me up!
