Wes Jackson, educator, producer and entrepreneur, returns to MPAC with a new virtual presentation highlighting the journey of women in hip hop.

From Sha Rock to Megan Thee Stallion, and Sylvia Robinson (Sugar Hill Records) to Desiree Perez (CEO of Roc Nation), women have mastered the ability to hold and wield power from both the artistic and business side of this global billion-dollar industry. This virtual Zoom lecture will be followed by Q&A.

Wes Jackson has over 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur and innovator in the entertainment business. He helped launch the careers of Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), Talib Kweli, El-P (Run The Jewels), Common, and others. In 2005 Wes founded the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival with the mission to create a world class event to honor Hip-Hop music and culture. He is currently a Senior Executive In Residence and Director of the Business of Creative Enterprise Program at Emerson College.

NJ Ballet's Don Quixote

This Saturday, March 5, at 8:00 pm

In 2011, New Jersey Ballet’s premiere of Don Quixote made its way onto the Star-Ledger’s prestigious Top Ten Dance events of the year. Based on the book by Miguel de Cervantes, the ballet takes a closer look at one of the many adventures Don Quixote goes on. “It is a tale rich in Spanish color, flavor, and laugh-out-loud humor.”

Don Quixote was chosen by the Company’s Founder Carolyn Clark in 2011 to expand the Company’s full-length repertory. She saw this as an opportunity to present “a joyous ballet with outstanding choreography by Gorsky; a delightful spectacle popular with audiences. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for the Company to present another full-length ballet available to the people of New Jersey.”

New Jersey Ballet looks forward to starting its Spring Season with a production that puts a smile on everyone’s face. The Company looks forward to seeing you at the performance where you will experience the charm of this full-length classic and bravura dancing by New Jersey Ballet’s world-class dancers.
