In this LIVE, virtual program, learn to draw a New Jersey native animal and create your own masterpiece in this live, virtual program! Guess the animal of the month with clues, then learn all the facts about this animal's life before learning to draw it using simple shapes and lines, guided by Miss Jenny. You'll be amazed at what you can do!

Tuesday, December 1 Owl Pellet Exploration

After an introduction to the amazing adaptations of New Jersey’s owls using feathers, taxidermy mounts, and other artifacts, pairs dissect owl pellets to reconstruct the skeletons of their prey. Participants must pick up their materials at the GSOEC before class. 

Cost: $12 per child. 

Tuesday, December 8 Winter on the Homefront 

Join the March Sisters as they celebrate the winter holidays during the Civil War as we take a tour through Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. In this literary quest, use the themes from the book to learn how life would have been on the home front during the war between the states.

Cost: $10 per household.

Tuesday, December 15 Water, Water, Everywhere!

Every living thing on earth needs water to survive – animals and plants. Explore the power of water, the way plants get water into their system, and how animals (like us) need plants to get the water we need, too.

Cost: $10 per person.

Should I pick up a fallen baby bird? Do you get two worms when a worm is cut in half? Do black bears actually hibernate? Enjoy an interactive presentation while determining what really is fact or fiction regarding some of the most commonly seen and talked about New Jersey animals

Thursday, December 17 Bringing Greens Indoors

Learn how to tell the difference between pine, fir, and spruce trees. Discover which kinds of greens in your own yard are perfect for cutting and how to successfully bring them inside for seasonal décor.
