McCarter Theatre Center Suspends All Performances Through March 31

McCarter Theatre Center

In light of recent events and Governor Murphy's declaration this afternoon to limit public gatherings, we are planning on suspending all live performances, classes, and events at McCarter starting tonight through March 31, including the production run of Sleuth, Miloš, The Hot Sardines, and The Peking Acrobats.

Our first priority, of course, is to adhere to the measures outlined by our public officials to ensure the safety of our patrons, artists, staff, and the general public. We will assess the ongoing situation weekly and determine if we need to extend the suspension past March 31, in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

If you have tickets to any of the above performances, a voucher for the value of your tickets will be placed on your McCarter Theatre Center account starting the week of March 16. Our Patron Services team will be in touch with you in the next several days to discuss your options, including:

  • Donate the value of your voucher as a tax-deductible contribution. Transferring your ticket to a donation supports McCarter during these uncertain times. We will continue to pay our artists and staff during this crisis, and your ticket donation will help us meet our obligations.
  • Use your voucher to purchase tickets for upcoming performances in our current season, towards a 2020-2021 season subscription, or single tickets when they become available.

If your child is enrolled in an After School class, a member of our Education team will reach out to discuss your options.

Canceling performances saddens us and causes severe financial strain for our staff and artists we employ.

As an independent non-profit organization, we depend on ticket revenue and contributions to sustain our organization. We hope you will support us during this difficult time by donating your ticket(s) or by making a tax-deductible gift to McCarter.

We look forward to giving our community world-class performing arts once this crisis has passed.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued generosity.
