The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey will dedicate the concert to the memory of timpanist Al Jorgensen (1942-2018)

"Timpanist Al Jorgensen was more than just a member of the orchestra's percussion section. Al was a cherished colleague and friend. Al has been an integral part of the successful development of the orchestra for over fifteen years. His experience in the opera world was especially valuable to me as he shared so many insights into the collaborative work of orchestra with singers, directors, and designers. His musicianship and artistry added greatly to every symphony, concerto, and overture as well as to the theatrical performances. Al played with almost every orchestra and opera company in New Jersey, especially proud of his work with New Jersey State Opera where he worked closely with Maestro Silipigni and his work and friendship with composer/conductor Jose Serebrier. I will miss Al as a musician and even more as a person with whom I shared many a joyful dinner at the diner after rehearsals and performances."—Maestro Robert W. Butts
