Pianist Stephen Wu performs the music of Xian Xinghai

The Yellow River Piano Concerto  (simplified Chinese: 黄河协奏曲; traditional Chinese: 黃河協奏曲; pinyin: Huáng Hé xiézòuqǔ) is a piano concerto arranged by a collaboration between musicians including Yin Chengzong and Chu Wanghua, and based on the Yellow River Cantata by composer Xian Xinghai. It had its politicized premiere in 1969 during the Cultural Revolution.  The score is filled with excitement and some of the most beautiful and unforgettable melodies.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony #6 is one of the masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire. Though in many ways in Tchaikovsky's emotionally romantic style, the symphony is in fact quite modernist as well - not least in its use of 5/4 meter in the "waltz" movement and in putting the slow movement at the end.

Amy Reich's Winter Dances was composed especially for The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey's 20th Anniversary Season.  This performance will be the World Premiere.   The work is in four delightful movements, each of which is filled with positive energy and spirit.
