SOMERSET VALLEY PLAYERS SEEK ACTORS FOR RADIO PLAY

AUDITION NOTICE:

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE—A LIVE RADIO PLAY 
Directed by Richard Butler
Produced by Todd Bennington and Ed Hayden

Holiday tradition meets old-time nostalgia in this unique and sparkling version of the heartwarming Christmas tale of George Bailey and his guardian angel Clarence performed as a radio play, as the actors step right up behind the old-style microphones in a radio studio to tell the traditional story in the 1940’s way, complete with scripts, songs, and sound effects.

WHEN: Monday September 19 at 7:30 pm and Wednesday September 21 at 7:30

Somerset Valley Playhouse - 689 Amwell Rd, Hillsborough, NJ.

Performance dates run December 2 through December 18, 2016

Director Richard Butler is seeking to fill the following roles:

  • Males - (5-7) varying in ages from teen to adults
  • Females - (3-5) varying in ages from teens to adults

Special note for auditioners:

The show is presented as a live radio broadcast in 1948, with scripts in hand and live microphones on stands. This production has a cast of 10; eight of the performers portray (fictional) radio and movie personalities playing the characters of the story (all of these actors will double as various ages and use various character voices); the other two performers will play the Foley Artists who produce all of the live on stage sound effects required for the broadcast.

All actors (including the Foley Artists) need to be comfortable singing in a group onstage.

Except for the actors playing George and Mary, actor age and type is open.

ALL ACTORS MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR TECH WEEK (November 27 –December 1) AND FOR ALL PERFORMANCES.
