This past weekend Hurricane Jonas caused misery for the eastern seaboard and many New Jerseyans specifically. The 'not since Sandy' unprecedented flooding, mixed with heavy snowfall, made travel nearly impossible and business-as-usual more than unlikely for many. Of the many stories arising 'post-storm', one minor but poignant casualty was the opening weekend cancellation of an Asbury Park theater company's highly anticipated one act festival, GIFTS.

GIFTS—presented by La Strada Ensemble Theater—is a festival comprised of two completely unique programs of seven original plays each... and was set to open Friday January 22nd.  But, thanks to Jonas' influence, the festival has been postponed until this coming weekend... and La Strada will be adding three additional show dates.  The myriad of smart, funny, and thought-provoking plays come from the minds of 11 playwright—hailing from L.A., Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York, London, Monmouth, Somerset & Ocean Counties.

La Strada's GIFTS lineup includes the acting, writing, and directing talents of Prosper Bellizia, Evan Black, Doug Bollinger, Brian Brecht, A.J. Ciccotelli, Jennifer DiOrio, Carina Duffy, Curtis Scott Dunn, Nadine Dunn, Brianna Ellison, Dennis Gribben, Natalie Klein, Donna Knowlton, Erica Beverly Kostyz, Liz Meinders, Christine Nagy, Ann Pekata, Sam Pelissero, Brendan Paparella, Franklin Ricart, Gerry Ringwald, Robert Scott, Lisa Siano, Mike Sockol, Stephen Wagner, Jakob Walsh, and Thomas Ryan Ward.
