Circle Players presents Dinner With Friends, a drama by Donald Margulies, as the next production of our 2015-2016 season. This nuanced script earned Donald Margulies the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. New York Magazine said of the original production, “There is skillful construction here, as well as keen psychological insight… Donald Margulies is establishing himself as one of our leading playwrights.”

In their Connecticut home, Karen and Gabe, international food writers, are giving a dinner for their married best friends, Beth and Tom. Beth arrives alone, and It soon emerges that Tom has left her for another woman. Gabe and Karen are almost as crushed as Beth is, having expected ‘to grow old and fat together, the four of us.’ Sides are taken and defenses are made – but the real turmoil brewing is between Karen and Gabe, who suddenly find their faith in their own marriage shaken to the core.

Prior to the matinee performance on December 6th, Circle will also host a "Brunch with Friends" event. Tickets will be $10 for the brunch, and will be available online and at the door. The brunch begins at noon, and will be followed immediately by the matinee performance at 3 p.m..

The stage manager for this production will be Marijah Sroczynski of Piscataway.

Appearing in the cast are Kirk White of Scotch Plains, Heidi Carter Hart of Maplewood, Patrick Andrae of Jamesburg, and Brett Sabo of Red Bank.

Audiences are invited to join in a special wine and cheese reception in the theater lobby following the opening night performance.
