Sarah Partridge plays the intimate LOFT space of the South Orange Performing Arts Center singing jazz standards and original compositions.

For over 20 years, Sarah Partridge has been performing jazz around the country, enjoying success at renowned haunts such as Manhattan’s Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, Hollywood’s Catalina Bar & Grill, D.C’s Blues Alley, Denver’s Dazzle Jazz Club, and Scullers in Boston.

Partridge made her first New York City appearance as a jazz vocalist with the legendary trumpeter, Doc Cheatham who referred to her as a singer of “high voltage.” The New York Times called her one of “a tradition of jazz singers who use hard rhythm as a kind of emotional armor. Instead of exploring the interior worlds of her material, [Ms. Partridge] sustains the image of a plucky, can-do gal and good sport who swings at a steady jogging pace...”

The “plucky” jazz singer has released four critically-acclaimed CDs including I’ll Be Easy to Find in 1998, Blame It On My Youth in 2003, Songs For My Father in 2006, and Perspective in 2010, released by her own Peartree Productions Label. Her latest recording of original compositions, I Never Thought I’d Be Here, is now available on Origin Records.

South Orange Performing Arts Center’s LOFT where Sarah Partridge will be performing on Friday, May 22 at 8PM is an intimate cabaret-style space seating 150 people. Tickets are available at the door, online or by phone at www.SOPACnow.org or at (973) 313-2787.

SOPAC programs are made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
