bergenPAC Performing Arts School Announces

HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND FESTIVAL

WHEN: Monday, May 18, 7:30 PM
WHERE: bergenPAC, 30 N. Van Brunt St., Englewood
ADMISSION:
$10 and are available by calling 201.482.8194 or by emailing education@bergenPAC.org.

The Jazz Band Festival features performances by local high school jazz bands: Cresskill High School, Saddle Brook High School, and Westwood High School. The show will showcase their talents and musicality.

Participation in the event includes a professional recording session in the recording studio at the Performing Arts School. Each school will keep their recordings and can use them for promotional purposes at their schools. The recordings will be produced by bergenPAC studio engineer Tom Tarkizikis at the brand new bergenPAC recording studio at the Performing Arts School.

The festival will consist of 30 minutes of a jazz fusion set by each participating school on the bergenPAC main stage.

“Englewood has such a rich history in Jazz Music, we really wanted to showcase the jazz talent in our county and provide students with the experience of playing on the same stage as Chic Corea, Bernie Williams, and George Benson,” said Alexander Diaz, Director of Education at The Performing Arts School.

The event is the brainchild of bergenPAC Board of Trustees member Matt Ross, whose son plays in the jazz band at Cresskill High School. In collaboration with Cresskill’s Jazz Band Teacher, Joe Verderese, the two came up with the idea of the Festival to allow students to freely express themselves in a unique, yet professional way.
