34TH ANNUAL BLACK MARIA FILM FESTIVAL

ADMISSION: Admission is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the general public. Light refreshments will be served.
The opening night screening will present the top four Stellar-Award winning films from the 2015 juried competition.

WHERE: Historical Museum, 1301 Hudson Street in Hoboken
TICKETS: $10 at the door includes light refreshments.
Free validated parking is available at Littleman Parking Garage at 12th Street and Shipyard Lane.
The Festival here will feature the Global Insights Stellar Award winning documentary Yakona, as well as a number of outstanding documentary shorts.
GALA CELEBRATION
WHEN: Saturday night, February 7, at 8:00 PM
WHERE: Art House Productions, 136 Magnolia Ave., Jersey City
TICKETS: in advance for $10 at www.arthouseproductions.org, or for $12 at the door. Advance purchase is recommended as seating is limited. Free parking is available. Art House is located adjacent to the Journal Square PATH Station.
A gala celebration features a wine tasting donated by Make Wine With Us of Wallington and a screening of the Festival’s award-winning short films including narrative, experimental and animation.
CLOSING PROGRAM
WHEN: Sunday, February 8, at 2:00 PM
WHERE: AMC Dine-In Theatre, Essex Green 9, 495 Prospect Avenue in West Orange
ADMISSION: $10 at the door.
The closing program rounding out the Festival’s premiere weekend will be on Sponsored by the West Orange Film Society, the screening will feature an eclectic program of short films and a conversation with the audience. Attendees will be invited to enjoy piece of “Edison Cake,” in celebration of the birthday of Thomas Edison, the inventor of the motion picture camera. Festival director Jane Steuerwald will present each Black Maria Film Festival program in person.
The nationally known Black Maria Film Festival has generous support from New Jersey City University, New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the Hudson County Office of Cultural Affairs and Tourism, the William H. Donner - Pikes Peak Foundation, and Adobe Systems, Inc. and Microsoft through TechSoup.org. New Jersey State Council on the Arts recognized the Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium – Black Maria Film Festival with a “Citation of Excellence” in 2015, for achieving the highest standards of excellence as recognized by its peers. Unlike other major film festivals, the Black Maria Festival is not presented in only one location. Instead, the winning films are presented at universities, museums, libraries and cultural centers across the country all year.
