JAZZ AT RUTHERFURD HALL ANNOUNCES 2014-2015 SEASON

Jazz at Rutherfurd Hall Series

The first of Rutherfurd Hall's Jazz series kicks off September 14th, featuring the Dena DeRose Trio. Dena is a jazz vocalist and pianist and has performed at some of the most respected Jazz Festivals around the world. Then on October 19th the series continues with "Piano Extravaganza" featuring Danny Mixon, a prolific piano virtuoso, Dave Roper, an innovator who integrates jazz and classical music and Tomoko Ohno. The pianists will be accompanied Diva's Rhythm Section—Sherrie Maricle on drums and Noriko Ueda on bass.

The November 30th show Two Tenors From Philly spotlights tenors Larry McKenna, a masterful jazz improviser and influential jazz educator and Tommy Gryce an outstanding saxophonist, arranger and premier music teacher. This performance is both musical and educational.  They are accompanied by a rhythm section consisting of an organist and drummer.

On December 28, The Harry Allen Quintet performs. Don't miss this spectacular show. Headlining is Harry Allen, the award-winning jazz saxophonist, backed by an outstanding rhythm section. His show will spotlight the outstanding 13-year-old trumpet prodigy Geoff Gallante, an amazing talent for his age!

The 2015 section of the series kicks off on February 1st with The Tony DeSare Trio. Don't miss it! World known pianist Tony DeSare performs with infectious joy, wry playfulness and robust musicality. His 'takes' on classics, standards and sophisticated original compositions have earned him a reputation as one of the country's hottest young singers and pianists. His sound is romantic, swinging and sensual. Tony will be accompanied by a great rhythm section.

March Madness continues the series on March 22, with the Big Apple Jazz Band. Dick Voigt, a jazz pianist, is the founder & leader of The Big Apple Dixieland Jazz Band. The band plays classic jazz with style, energy, and joy, stemming from the combined experience of the top New York musicians in the ensemble. Dick has directed & performed jazz and Dixieland for some of the best jazz clubs & festivals for over 50 yrs.

The grand finale of the series is A Tribute to Johnny Mercer, The Great American Composer. Swingadelic swings in with founder and bassist Dave Post and features Jerry Weldon on sax. Jerry is a featured soloist for Harry Connick Jr. Rounding out the ensemble are: Jerseys own Vanessa Perea, a regular vocalist in New York City jazz clubs, David Longworth an international award winning drummer and John Bauers world known pianist, accompanist and musical director. This proves to be one fantastic final show.
