God assigns Natalie a bunkmate in Limbo: her estranged mother. Before advancing to Heaven, Natalie must forgive her mother, a drug-addict and personal angel to Greg, Natalie's comedian husband who can't seem to tell a joke since losing his wife. God serves as therapist and grief counselor in this poetic story of a mother and daughter who have one last shot to mend their relationship and a comedian who's lost his funny bone, literally.
There will be a talkback with the playwright following the reading.
LAURA BRIENZA is a writer from New Jersey. Her plays have been seen and developed at the Kennedy Center, the Lark Play Development Center, Midtown Direct Rep, DC Fringe, FringeNYC, and Sidecar Theatre Company. On Brienza, nytheatre.com said, "Laura Brienza has vision, talent, a unique point of view, and an exciting dynamic voice. She's also got a playwright's ability to make her audience think, without preaching at them. She's a real find." Laura is currently at work on several TV and film projects. She is a graduate of Georgetown University.
