WHAT A WEEK @ RVCC ARTS

This week at RVCCArts

The Glass CastleTHE GLASS CASTLE
Book by Jeannette Walls
American Place Theatre

WHEN: Tuesday, October 22, at 12 & 7 PM
WHERE:
The Theatre at RVCC, 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg
TICKETS: $10 at 12 PM, $25 at 7 PM

From the very first emotionally raw moments of the show when our protagonist, Jeannette Walls, on her way to a toney New York party, sees her mother rooting through a dumpster, we are launched into the controversial and complex world of the Walls family. The actress plays upwards of seven characters including the alcoholic father, Rex Walls, who the author loves with a fierce loyalty. Through the portrayal of these alternately eccentric and abusive parents, audiences will vacillate between outrage and adoration but will walk away with a sense of the extraordinary strength of our young heroine and her ability to overcome what seem to be insurmountable odds.

In association with Young Audiences, New York
Performed by Sarah Franek
Adapted and Directed by Wynn Handman

Barton’s Straight Up With a Twist, Faerie Tyme and Five Men and a Concerto have been favorites on the RVCC stage in recent years, and Peterson’s The Eyes That Gently Touch was called “a contemporary classic” (Robert Johnson, The Star Ledger). Ann Marie DeAngelo’s athletic and eclectic Blackberry Winter will round out the program.

In the MoodIN THE MOOD
Bud Forrest Entertainment

WHEN: Sunday, October 27, at 2 PM
WHERE: The Theatre at RVCC, 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg
TICKETS: $25 & $35

Much more than a concert, In The Mood presents a retro 1940s musical revue featuring the In The Mood Singers and Dancers with the sensational String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra. The music and the arrangements are as authentic as it gets. This was a time that all America was listening and dancing to the same kind of music. In the 1940s, the combination of up-tempo big band instrumentals and intimate, romantic ballads set the mood for a future filled with promise, hope and prosperity. This was the time when the music moved the nation's spirit!
