This exhibition will feature watercolor paintings by Barry Shiff, whose work evokes a nostalgic view of days gone by.

Barry Shiff was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, raised in Boston, and received his fine art training from the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston, where he studied life drawing with Don La Cedra at the Copley Society.

aaplpalasadesWhen Barry moved to New Jersey in 1978, he met fellow artist Mary, who became the love of his life, and together, they painted early 20th century towns and train stations in rural New Jersey, creating authentic depictions of this period in history. Barry continues to paint on location and in his Fort Lee studio. His favorite subjects are sailing ships and railroad trains, and using vintage photos and postcards as reference, he brings his subjects to life with historical accuracy.

Columbus circle1Barry’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and all over the world. His paintings are in the permanent collection of the Easton Historic Society in Easton, Massachusetts and in many libraries, state facilities and private collections. He currently serves on the National Board of Directors at the American Artist Professional League, is treasurer of the Fort Lee Artist Guild, and an active member of the Fort Lee Historical Society, He also finds time to contribute to the Hackensack Art Club, where he is an honorary member, and the Art Center of New Milford. Barry has won numerous awards as an historical painter and has exhibited in juried shows all over New Jersey and New York.
