“PORGY & BESS” STAR BOYKIN TO HEADLINE STARRY NJ BENEFIT

Tony and Grammy Award-nominee Phillip Boykin joins a slew of stars to salute a Century of Broadway Showstoppers in GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY!

This annual Bickford Theatre Guild fundraiser salutes the last 100 years on the Great White Way with show-stopping selections from such classic Broadway musicals as A Chorus Line, Mame, West Side Story, Gypsy, Funny Girl, Hello, Dolly!, Annie Get Your Gun, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Jersey Boys, Cinderella and many more. Audiences can expect over twenty hits including Mr. Boykin’s renditions of the classics, “I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin” and “Ol’ Man River.”

Boykin Theatre World 6_6_12Phillip Boykin most-recently starred on Broadway opposite five-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. He will be joined by numerous Broadway and national touring stars including Ron Bohmer (Ragtime and A Little Night Music), Gary Mauer (Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera), Elizabeth Southard (The Phantom of the Opera), Julie Waldman-Stiel (The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber), and returning Bickford Theatre favorites including Gwendolyn F. Jones (Mother Superior in Nunsense), Kristen Michelle (Sister Amnesia in Nunsense), Scott McGowan (Mack Sennett in Mack & Mabel), Daniel Vissers (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change), Susan Speidel (The Best of Times), Mark Montague and Jennifer Montague (Some Enchanted Evening). Special Guest performers include Rasha Jay and Tracey Turner Turano, who also provides musical staging. Peter Candela (Disney’s The Lion King) serves as Music Director.

GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY! is written, directed and produced by Stephen Kantrowitz and Jodi Chekofsky, who return to helm the Bickford Theatre Guild fundraiser for the fifth consecutive year.

About The Bickford Theatre
The Bickford Theatre is a professional theater that produces and presents year-round entertainment, including a Main Stage Series, two Children’s Theatre series, a Jazz Showcase, and Blues at the Bickford. The theatre is a Senior Member of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance, a not-for-profit organization of 30 professional theatres throughout the state, and works in conjunction with Actors' Equity Association (AEA) and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC).
