MUSIC SCHOOL TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR MUSICIANS OF ALL AGES

ORCHESTRAL, WIND, CHORAL AND CHAMBER ENSEMBLES

(Auditions are open to musicians of all ages and abilities.)

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, New Jersey’s leading community music school, named a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, is pleased to announce auditions for many of its excellent student ensembles.

Panels of acclaimed faculty members will evaluate prospective students of all ages and abilities on various June dates for participation in the Music School’s three student orchestras; two choruses; and Wind Camerata. Students interested in receiving chamber music coaching may also audition, either individually, or, new this year, as an existing ensemble.

*Orchestral opportunities at the Music School include the Thurnauer Symphony Orchestra, led by music director and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra bassist Louis Kosma; Philharmonia; and String Camerata. All orchestral auditions will take place on Sunday, June 10, from 2-4 PM

The Prelude (for students ages 6-9) and Concert (for students ages 10-17) choirs of the Young People’s Chorus at Thurnauer (YPC@T) will hold auditions on two dates: Wednesday, June 6, from 5-7 PM. and Sunday, June 17, from 3-5 PM. The YPC@T is a proud affiliate of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City™, and performed under the direction of the latter’s music director and founder, Francisco J. Núñez, at the Music School’s 22nd Annual Gift of Music Gala Benefit Concert on May 23. All students’ ages are calculated as of October 1, 2012.

*Auditions for the Music School’s faculty-coached chamber music ensembles (all instruments welcome) will take place Sunday, June 10, from 1:30-3:30 PM. The Wind Camerata (wind and percussion instruments) will hold auditions on Sunday, June 10, from 2-4 PM.
