WOODBRIDGE WEDNESDAY TONIGHT AT 7:30 PM

Two Amazing Musical Events in Woodbridge Aug. 24 ... and both FREE:

  • Woodbridge High School field, Kenny Vance & The Planotones give a free doowop show at 7:30 PM
  • Parker Press Park on Rahway Ave., Meta & The Cornerstones give a free reggae show at 7:30 PM

Planotones, Cornerstones ... Planotones, Cornerstones ... what to choose?!

Kenny Vance broke into the business with Jay & The Americans, who had major Top 40 hits in the early '60s ...

Meta is from Senegal in Africa and infuses a unique world music dimension into classic reggae with a 10-piece ensemble.

Try to see both if you can ... if you dare!

The Farmers Market is also on at Parker Press from 4-8 PM. Plenty of Jersey Fresh produce every week through end of September.

And the permanent roof over the Parker Press stage was installed yesterday ... a major shout-out in praise to the Township's Parks and Public Works crews who have rehabbed the park into a true jewel, along with Eagle Scout candidate Justin Procopio and his troop members who laid down the stage, and the local businesses who supported the project with various donations—Reo Diner, Subway of Woodbridge, Papa John’s Pizza, Wegmans of Woodbridge, Foodtown, Main Street Bagels, CVS, Standard Skate Shop, Vito Mazza Salon, The Home Depot of Colonia, Neves Jewelers, J&E Multi-Services.

This means the Parker Press concerts definitely go on rain or shine. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. Next week and the final 2011 Woodbridge Wednesday show:  DELTA RAE, a sensational North Carolina quartet performing Blues-Folk-Gospel-Excellence.
