LOCAL ARTISTS EXHIBIT WORK @ WOPL IN JULY

WOPL LogoNew Art Exhibit

MEET THE ARTISTS

WHEN: Monday, June 6, 7 PM
WHERE: West Orange Public Library, 46 Mt. Pleasant Ave., West Orange

A new art show, featuring the work of Jan and Jann Carden, has been installed in the WO Library and will be on display through July.

The Cardens' watercolor paintings capture their love of nature. They find inspiration in the sea, gardens and forests, often painting scenes of Cape Cod beaches and tropical Jamaican shores.  Jann says, "...we are often overcome by the fragrance of stargazer lilies, the sheltering grace of age old pines, or the brillian hues of verdant palms. To paint or just look...that's always the question; but on those few and precious days when time seems to hang back and allow you to choose, an artist paints and forever has a memory and a sense of accomplishment."

The Cardens, married for 48 years, have lived in West Orange for three decades. Jan, a retired art teacher, is a visual artist and jazz vocalist. Jann, formerly an illustrator for Sesame Street, is a 3-dimensional artist and owns the floral design company, ELVES.

You can meet the Cardens at a reception in the Library on Monday, June 6 at 7 PM. Jan and Jann will discuss their work and inspirations. Light refreshments will be served. The art show and reception are brought to you through a partnership between the WO Library and the WO Arts Council.
