The City of Rahway will kick off its annual Black History Month celebration with an opening reception at 6:30 PM in the Fazioli Piano Loft at the Union County Performing Arts Center, 1601 Irving Street, Rahway. The program will include a keynote speech by Donald Benners, Vice President and Head of Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrist Financing and Economic Sanctions for North America Allied Irish Bank in New York. The brief ceremony will be followed by a performance of The Red Zinger African-American Theatre Rag, a collection of historical and contemporary dramatic readings, from Harriet Tubman to August Wilson featuring Darrell Lawrence Willis, Sr. (above, right) and Lorraine Stone (above, left) of the Dunbar Repertory Company. A reception at Conservatory Piano and Hi-Fi, 1591 Irving Street, will immediately follow the performance.

The Dunbar Repertory Company was founded on the Brookdale Community College campus in Lincroft, New Jersey, in April of 1987 by Darrell Lawrence Willis, Sr. and Ramon James Morris, fellow actors from Long Branch. Now located in Freehold, Willis, Morris and Associate Artistic Director Mark Antonio Henderson continue to move the company forward as it enters its 25th year.
