JAZZ THIS WEEK IN NEW BRUNSWICK

APRIL IS JAZZ APPRECIATION MONTH!

Jazz Up Your Week: Don't Miss Out!

Calling all jazz lovers! Get ready to groove at this week's performances!

Every Tuesday from 7PM-10PM, we present our "Emerging Artists'" Series. These are students who are part of a jazz program at one of the tri-state region's colleges and universities, or young musicians at the beginning of their jazz careers. The band's performance is followed by an open jam session. No Cover Charge!

Upstairs-Emerging Artists TUESDAY: April 8

Logan Bogdan Sextet

The NBJP Emerging Artists Series is your chance to see the future of jazz! These shows are devoted to introducing student musicians from university jazz programs in the region as well as young musicians at the beginning of their jazz careers to new audiences. These events also provide opportunities for them to hone their performance skills beyond school related presentations. It’s their night.

Each hour long performance is followed by an open jam session. Over the years we have cultivated a group of fine young musicians, who have gone on to work professionally around the world.

DOWNSTAIRS-MAIN-STAGE THURSDAY

April 10 - 3 D Jazz Trio

3 D Jazz Trio

Fiercely swinging this powerhouse trio plays original, traditional, and contemporary standards from all genres of music. Their distinctive style & innovative arrangements are super-charged by their boundless musical joy, gratitude, and enthusiasm. Sherrie, Amy, and Jackie met in May of 2014 at the Cleveland Playhouse while playing in The DIVA Jazz Orchestra as part of Maurice Hines’ award-winning show Tappin’ Thru Life. From their first shared downbeat, they became kindred-swinging spirits and the resulting musical synergy was fast and fierce...or as the New York Times said…"Blistering Hot!"

Since its inception, 3D has performed at many of the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals, including: The Blue Note (NYC) Dizzy’s Club (NYC), Rochester International Jazz Festival (Rochester, NY),Festival Internacional de Música La Guarapachanga (Pinar del Rio, Cuba). They were featured on The Kate TV’s “live” music series with Maurice Hines (PBS) and three times on WVIA radio’s Homegrown Music Series.

Jackie, Amy and Sherrie are also experienced and enthusiastic educators.
