Here at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, we’re crazy about trees! Our Tournament of Trees is in full swing, with 16 incredible contenders competing for the title of this year’s favorite. Homeschool Explorers will have the chance to discover what makes our fabulous trees stand out and get a chance to choose their favorite. Students should dress for the weather and wear comfortable boots. This is a drop-off program. Register here

For ages 8-12, cost: $15 per child. Preregistration is required.

Join us to get into the woods, learn new outdoor skills, meet other like-minded kids and build confidence. In this session, learn the different ways to acquire and treat water for drinking in the backcountry. Parents are welcome to drop off or stay and take part. Register here

Join the staff of the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center as we wrap up the maple sugaring season with our Maple Sugaring Season Finale extravaganza! With 4 timeslots available - you can learn how to identify and tap a maple tree, visit our wood burning evaporator, and participate in a syrup taste test! As an added bonus - Frontier Village Maple Products from Bloomingdale, NJ will be joining us for the day, selling their tasty, freshly made NJ syrup and other products. Register here

What are the parts of a plant and what do they do? Find parts new and old during a walk around the gardens and invent your own plant in whatever crazy colors you like. Register here

In-Person Home School DaysHomeschool Days: Where Did They Go?

Plants have developed all kinds of ways to camouflage themselves. Search the gardens for hidden plants both large and small. Students should dress for inside and outside time. This is a drop-off program.  Register here

Tubb's HouseParanormal Evenings: The Tubbs House

March 15

Investigate the Tubbs House in this new, exciting paranormal hunt. This program will be led by the New Jersey Paranormal Project. This event includes an introduction to the paranormal investigating and an investigation inside of the Tubbs House at Willowwood Arboretum. Owned by Henry and Robert Tubbs, the arboretum was purchased in 1908 and turned into ornamental gardens and grounds. Register here

5k run5 K Walk/Run

The Morris Park Alliance is hosting the 2025 Spring Forward 5K Walk/Run, with a newly added 10K this year! The event is at Central Park of Morris County on April 13, at 9:30 am.
