Lafayette 200 in
Morristown
We are excited to be part
of the celebrations - July 13, 2025 Noon on the Morristown Green. A
gala day of festivities will mark the 200th Anniversary of the
return visit
of The Marquis de
Lafayette!
We are also excited to
share the news that Maestro Robert W. Butts has been
commissioned to compose a special suite which will be premiered as The
Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey performs for the event.
"I feel honored
to be asked to compose this work," Maestro Butts said after he
and BONJ President Jo Ann Bates met with Carol Barkin and Wendy
York at the historic Sansay House in Morristown. "Last
year I composed a suite to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Morristown
National Historical Park and this year composing for Lafayette feels
like part of the continuing story of our history."
It was at the Sansay
House that Lafayette was entertained
during his 1825 visit to
Morristown.
