In March 2025, the Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach
Programme and the Center for Jewish History present Bau, Artist at War and Here Lived: The Stolpersteine Story
as part of the film series Holocaust History on Film:
Anne Frank and Beyond.
This series features a carefully curated selection of classic and
newly released films followed by discussions
with filmmakers, critics, journalists, writers, directors
and scholars. The film series is part of the program developed
by the Center for Jewish History in conjunction with the Center’s
project, Anne Frank in History and Memory.

Bau, Artist at
War is based on the
true love story of Joseph and Rebecca Bau, whose wedding took
place in secret at the Plaszow concentration camp during the
Holocaust. The screening will be followed by a conversation with
film director Sean McNamara, writer/producer Deborah Smerecnik
and Rebecca and Joseph Bau’s daughters Clila and Hadasa Bau. CEO
of B’nai B’rith International, Daniel S. Mariaschin, will
moderate.

Lived: The Stolpersteine Story

Through tracing the story of the
Stolpersteine (stumbling stones), Here Lived: The
Stolpersteine Story focuses on the generational
trauma suffered by families impacted by atrocities perpetrated by
the Nazis during the Holocaust. Dr. Gavriel Rosenfeld, President
of the Center for Jewish History and Her Excellency Ms. Lise
Gregoire-van Haaren, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of
the Netherlands to the United Nations will deliver remarks. The
screening will be followed by a discussion with the film's director
and producer, Jane Wells, the General Director of the Jewish
Cultural Quarter and Professor of Jewish Book History at the
University of Amsterdam, Emile Schrijver and producer Ulrika
Citron. Tracey Petersen, Manager of the Holocaust and the United
Nations Outreach Programme will moderate.
